The Variable Picker helps you select and insert variables in the correct format when parameterizing requests. This control is available in the Parameterization Grid, Parameterization Editor, and Free-format Request Editor.

Accessing the Variable Picker

  1. Open the Variable Picker using one of these methods:

    • Parameterization Grid: Click the "..." button in the Replace with column
    • Parameterization Editor: Set the cursor on an even number line and right-click 
    • Free-format Request Editor: Right-click anywhere 
  2. Navigate the variable tree to select your variable (a).
  3. Use the search filter to quickly find specific variables (b).
  4. Adjust the extractor scope using the scope dropdown menu (c).

Selecting Variables

The Variable Picker displays available variables in four categories:

  • Extractors
  • Datasets
  • Data Generators
  • Functions
  • Scriptable variables

After selecting a variable, it automatically inserts into your request parameter, and the Variable Picker closes.

Replacing values

In the Parameterization Editor and Free-format Request Editor, the Variable Picker replaces your selected text with the chosen variable.
